Staying at the port, advice please!

Hi,

Me, my partner and our daughter(10 months) will be staying on Boulevard Franck Pilatte in a couple of weeks time and I would really appreciate some advice, please!

What is the best way to get there from the airport? We will have a stroller and no car seat, so were planning to get the bus to the bus station and walk from there.

Where is the nearest supermarket, and will it be open on a Sunday?

Where is the best place to just grab basics (milk, coffee etc - we are self catering)?

We have been to Nice 3 times before so are pretty familiar with the buses etc, but we don%26#39;t know the port area at all, so any other tips/recommendations will be really welcome!

Thanks

Unfortunately it%26#39;s not very straightforward to get to Franck Pilatte with public transport.

The only bus I know that goes along Franck Pilatte is the number 30 - you could get the 99 from the airport to the railway station, from where the 30 leaves. Check out the timetable here: www.lignedazur.com/horaires_ligne/index.asp…

Alternatively, get the 98 airport bus all the way to the bus station, then get the 100 (Nice to Menton) from the bus station and get out at the port, then walk.

For supermarkets, there%26#39;s a Champion that%26#39;s opened on Mont Boron, if you continue on the number 30 bus up the hill. It%26#39;s open on Sunday mornings. But there are plenty of small shops in the area that sell basics. Especially if you head for the old town. Most small shops open on Sunday mornings, and in the old town, several shops open all day.

Franck Pilatte is a lovely area. It%26#39;s far enough outside the centre to be quiet and relaxing, but not so far that you couldn%26#39;t walk back in the evening. There%26#39;s a nice beach and some good restaurants. If you%26#39;re really into food, check out Jouni%26#39;s - we used to go when he was based near the port, but now he%26#39;s in the old restaurant right on the sea front by the Bleue Rivage appartments. There%26#39;s also a fantastic family run Italian pizza/pasta restaurant on the rue Lympia.

Thanks so much for this advice, really helpful. Is the italian restaraunt you mention easy to find? Also, could you give any hints on where to get off the bus for the supermarket?!

Thanks a lot

The Champions supermarket is at Maeterlinck. It is open until 12:30 on Sunday. Bus 100 from the port to Villefranche also goes by it. There is also a Monoprix at Place Garibaldi but it is not open on Sunday.

You might find this bus map useful. It shows all the lines that run in the eastern area of Nice and on to Villefranche.
