French Riveria

We are planning a trip to France in September and are trying to figure out where to visit. So far we have Paris, Bordeuax, and one of Nice/Marseille/Cannes. Can anyone shed light on which of the three N/M/C to choose and also if there is anywhere else we should consider.

In choosing between those three we are looking to enjoy the beach and a more coastal lifestyle while visiting.

Thanks!

Nice has, I believe, the most to offer. Cannes is primarily a resort town, and there is less to see in Marseille than in Nice. Also, from Nice you can visit any number of nearby towns (including Cannes) and medieval villages.
