Ryan Air Baggage Rules

We are flying Ryan Air from Dublin to Paris. Wanted to know if they let you carry a backpack in addition to a camera backpack, which is about half the size of a regular backpack.

Thanks !

Check it out carefully before you do it. I read in Peter Greenbergs book %26quot;The Complete Travel Detective Bible%26quot; that Ryan Air charges for carry on baggage. I%26#39;ll try to look it up and post again, but I remember him saying that what he saved in the cost of the ticket, he more than paid for in additional baggage charges and then some. . . he hadn%26#39;t read the fine print!!!

I%26#39;ll look it up tonight and post.

Vanrags,

Get on the Ryan Air website as advised and read carefully. When I flew you could take a carry on that was a specific size or smaller and if my memory serves within a specific weight as well.

My friend ended up bringing some of her daughters belongings home from a year in Florence. We hadn%26#39;t planned on that so we didn%26#39;t plan ahead and didn%26#39;t check into any over weight charges and it cost her a couple hundred dollars extra.

From memory, you can only bring one backpack, handbag, camera bags included. You will have to fit everything into one bag but as said above, check out their website%26#39;s baggage section.

I always travel with a small suitcase as handbagage as well has a hand bag (fairly large as I usually pack a book, passport, tickets etc, my toiletries and some food) and have had no problems so far from about 20 flights. I would think you will be okay.

Usually with Ryanair, how strictly they enforce the rules will depend on the staff - some will stick very ridigly to the rules and others wont.

Okay - From Peter Greenberg concerning Ryan Air

A baggage fee is charged for the carriage of each checked baggage. The baggage fee may be prepaid at the current discounted rate of 6 euro per item of baggage per one way flight when making your reservation. If the baggage fee is paid after you%26#39;ve made your booking, the full rate per item of baggage per one way flight is charged.

Passenger may purchase up to 5 items of baggage per person. The totl checked baggage allowance per pweson is 15 kilograms irrespective of the number of items of baggage purchased per person

Any passenger checking in baggage exceeding 15 kilograms checked baggage allowance will be charged an excess baggage fee currently at the rate of 8 euro per kilo.

Passengers may not use the checked bag allowance of other passengers. No pooling or sharing of the checked baggage allowance is permitted.

One item of hand baggage per person wieghing no more than 10 kilograms and with dimensions of less than 55x40x20 centimeters may be carried into the aircraft cabin (restrictions apply from certain countries).

That is from Peter Greenbergs book %26quot;The Complete Travel Detective Bible%26quot; - says its directly from Ryan Air Website under Terms and Conditions.

Just be aware - you may slip by just fine. But be prepared in case they stick to these rules.

I have previously travelled from Dublin to Bristol with a rucksack and handbag on Ryanair and had no trouble. However, I have known other people be pulled up for similar. As one of the previous posters says, it is more luck oft he draw with Ryanair; sometimes they let you away with things and other times you%26#39;ll be charged £25 for a bag!

I used to live in Ireland and every Christmas there would be new reports from airports with weeping and distressed people being forced to pay out huge amounts to take loved-ones presents home...
