travel

Can anyone recommend a good way to travel throughout France? Are there any specific airlines or is there efficient rail?

Thanks!

France is geographically small enough that flying rarely makes much sense. An extreme like Paris to Nice almost makes flying worthwhile. Take a look at budget carriers like Easyjet for routes. They can be quite economical for non-peak hours. The budget airlines make great options, however, for hopping to another country%26#39;s major cities though--Venice, Vienna, Berlin, Dublin, Madrid, etc.

Rail is pretty good between major towns and cities.

If you want to spend some real time in smaller towns and in rural areas in places like Bourgogne, Loire, Bretagne, Normandie, or just about anywhere, a rental car becomes the best idea.

this may be a poor question but can you rent a car in france if you are from the US?

You can rent a car no problem just like the USA. Hertz, Avis, etc all have cars there. Get the insurance option though. I advise avoiding Paris traffic though. Rail is good to travel between major cities. Economical. Gas is about 8 a gallan their.
