graffiti in Nice

We have an apartment in Nice (pedestrian zone) and have the view of a huge graffiti from our balcony. Has anyone noticed any %26quot;tag%26quot; removal since the new mayor has signalled his intention to employ new police to remove these eyesores? Or has anybody had some successfully removed?

We contacted the Hotel whose wall it is on, but they weren%26#39;t interested in helping get it removed.It%26#39;s just a bit off putting for potential rentors and we would prefer not to have to look at it ourselves. We have sent an e-mail to the Mairie, although so far no response. Any ideas? value.

Please don%26#39;t reply about the artistic merit of graffiti - this one is just plain ugly and has no esthetic

I wrote to the Maire - when it was Jacques Peyrat - and handed the letter in at the municipal office in Cours Saleya. I got a very polite written reply and very soon after a contractor started an early morning run down Jean Medicin and they painted out everything except where its on glass. They are still doing a great job - one little loser tag ROKO was a real menace but his stuff has all gone, and they are keeping it clean still.

I wouldn%26#39;t recommend email - the French have a strong preference for tangible physical paper - like cheques and written letters.A lot of these guys dont open their own post.

There is still a lot of roof top tags even in Place Massena - have to keep up the pressure - lets hope Christian Estrosi has some backbone now he hold almost every job there is in the Alpes Maritime

Cheers
