Day trips from Perpignan/ Perpignan's best spots

Can anyone recommend day trips from Perpignan that I shouldn%26#39;t miss out on? I%26#39;m only there for 4 nights, so I only have time for maybe a couple trips.

Also, can anyone recommend sites in Perpignan that I must not miss?

Thanks!

Carcassonne and Nimes are certainly worth visiting. The former is about an hour away but Nimes is a 2 hour journey. Suggest you check train details upon arrival.

I took a walk around Perpignan yesterday as I said in the other answer. The Palace of the Kings of Majorca is definitely worth a visit to see how the other half lived. The old quarter of town, within the remains of the city walls has several well-preserved buildings and lots of narrow streets with an atmosphere of times past. One note of caution, although I didn%26#39;t feel particularly worried, there are two small areas in the old city where I would be a little careful and certainly not take pictures of the inhabitants.

The various tourist offices will be valuable source of information. By the way I did notice that several attractions were closed on Sundays and Mondays but perhaps that%26#39;s just because it%26#39;s off-season just now.
