Xmas European travel itinerary recommendations

Hello you travel friends, please help, I am lost, there is so much to see and go to.

Spending Xmas day in London and then want to move to Europe on 26th December.

Want to spend about 6 days in Paris, go to Barcelona for only short visit then where.

Thoughts are Germany or Greece or whatever.

We have allready been 2 years ago on a Trafalgar tour of Europe to give a taste so dont want to go back to Rome, Madrid, Venice etc. Want to try somewhere different.

Any ideas.

Budapest, Prague, Krakow or Berlin

We spent spent last new years in Budapest and it was beautiful, especially with the snow. Wandering around the Christmas markets with a glass of hot mulled wine cannot be beaten.

Budapest and Prague are very similar cities, with slightly more to see in Prague. Berlin is a city that is undergoing huge rebuilding at the moment, very much a European Capital city, but without the character of Buda and Prague.

Krakow is also very pretty, but mich smaller than Buda of Prague.

getting a flight from Europe to Greece during the winter months can be difficult, only a few airlines will fly there during winter and so will be expensive.

So far we are going to Munich for pre-Christmas holiday and TA posts point out that most of the Christmas markets close Christmas Eve.

London public transport is closed on Christmas day so make sure to get your C-Day dinner reservation and plan B on transport squared away now.

I hear good things of Strasbourg FR, Vienna or anywhere you can get hot chocolate and watch snow.

Thanks Flashby for all the help and feedback you put into this site. I am blown away with everyones willingness to help. I could have needed this site when we first went over this side of town so to speak. I want to spend at least 6 nights in Paris because there is so much to see. We may have to give our son the option of doing alternative sites as 4 hours at the Louvre which I have planned will not be his scene.

We are also thinking of Prague or Munich, possibly a look at Frankfurt but this will be dependant on how much my T/A charges me to alter my flights. Barcelona is also on our definite list. But who knows I am still open for suggestions. This all however is dependant on the travel time from UK to like Prague, then to Paris etc. Have not the luxury of time to go by rail when u r a tourist.

please keep putting your ideas through. Thank you.
