Five hour layover in Paris

Is five hours enough time to get in a sight or two?

Sorry to say, no. If you%26#39;re coming from CDG during a busy time of day it will take some time to get to the city. Then you%26#39;d run around like a maniac for a nano second and then have to head right back to the airport (3 hours ahead of flight is suggested)and go through security all over again and be at your gate in time for boarding. You%26#39;d have to be one big risk taker to give it a go LOL.

Bring a good book and some appetite to maybe try a coffee or snack or restaurant depending on terminal.

Practice people watching. There is NO time to go to Paris.

Can you change your flight so you have more time? You are in Paris and have absolutely no time to see it!! How sad.

Thanks! I had a feeling the answer would be no. I want to book something with a longer layover, but I may be out of luck. We%26#39;ll see. It seems such a shame to pass through and not see anything.

Two years ago while buying my RER ticket I met someone who was also getting a ticket to go into the city via the RER. She only had a five hour layover. We took the RER to the Eiffel Tower stop (Bir Hakeim) dropped off my bags and saw the Eiffel Tower, Arc de Triumph, had a quick lunch in a cafe across from the Arc then took the metro to St. Michel/Notre Dame. After this she went back to the airport and I too my hotel in about 2 1/2 hours.Yes it may be a rush but if you want to see it go for it. If you don%26#39;t have to check bags I think it is possible. I was just there in May, I got to the airport two hours before my flight and had bags to check and had plenty of time. Maybe it%26#39;s a little less busy in May but I don%26#39;t know. Good luck.

It takes an hour to get into the city on RER. Actual time is about 40 minutes, but you have to buy your ticket, get to the track, and wait for the next train -- so call it an hour, and if you find a bonus 5 or 10 minutes, good for you.

It takes an hour to get back to CDG.same as above.

You must be there 2 hours before your flight to make it through the long security lines, whether you have checked bags or not.

You have five hours, and you now know where four of them will go.

That leaves you one hour to get your bearings, transfer to the Metro, get to wherever you wanted to see, and get back to an RER line no later than 3 hours before your flight time.

If you are okay with the risk of missing your flight, then maybe it%26#39;s a plan....if you don%26#39;t want to miss your flight, I%26#39;d bring a book and people watch at CDG.

I dont suppose there is anything worth seeing in the area near the airport but if you will not have your bags you could have a look at lobby and common areas of the Sheraton Paris Airport Hotel %26amp; Conference Centre that is accessed from within the international airport and perhaps have a light meal there - not exciting but at least you will get out of the airport proper for an hour or so. I don%26#39;t know what it is like but I have seen it suggested as a meeting place for people coming in on different flights an hour or so apart.
