Paris%26#39; reputation for burlesque houses really refers to the last century, so you%26#39;re only likely to find what you%26#39;re looking for in the area around the Moulin Rouge (Montmartre district).

However, I%26#39;m sure you%26#39;ll be interested in seeing the rest of the nightlife - I%26#39;d get the Metro to Bastille and check out the back street bars and nightclubs in that area, its always good fun!

You might try Chez Michou - Haven%26#39;t been there yet but sounds like could be fun... (female impersonator stage show)

Oh, we have been here and it was kind of weird, crazy and interesting:

My two daughters surprised me with a night at Chez Michou for my birthday in May. With limited french we didn%26#39;t get all the monologue but could get the gist of it and the couples on either side of us tried with their limited english to help us understand. The artists they are imitating are both french and american so some of the music we could understand.

If you let them know its her birthday they will bring out a cake (used for everyone in turn) sing happy birthday and then chant %26quot;and you%26quot; in french of course, the birthday person must stand to be acknowledged before they%26#39;ll stop. Great fun!

The meal was surprisingly good. Be warned the steak comes VERY rare. The salmon was perfect. It gets out very late so I would plan on a cab back to your hotel. If you are lucky enough to have wonderful and helpful french couples sitting on either side of you it will be even more memorable.

I recommend it!

Just make sure you avoid the strip joints, whose real purpose is to empty your wallet via 100 Euro beers...except that you don%26#39;t learn the price until the bill arrives.
