Versailles advance tickets - where??

Ok, I know I need to buy the Forfait Loisers (or whatever they are called LOL) in advance. Where do I get them? At any metro station? We get in Saturday afternoon to Paris and will be leaving early sunday morning for Versailles but have no plans to be in a metro station before sunday. Can we get these tickets at any metro station? I am wondering if I need to make a special trip to a metro station to buy in advance on Saturday or if we can purchase them on Sunday (we are near the Hotel de Ville Metro so I assume we take the Metro to the RER). Thanks!

Here%26#39;s the web page for Transilien - Chateau de Versailles

I find it most reliable to purchase Forfait Loisirs at one of the SNCF train stations, if you happen to be going near one, because the ticket offices are always staffed.

You can purchase the packet at any RER station on RER Line C, but these are often not staffed and definitely spotty on Sundays. You can also use the automatic ticket machine in any of those stations. Just select a machine that accepts cash, as you can use only credit cards with a chip. You can select English at the beginning and it%26#39;s easy enough to figure out.

Or, you could go to an SNCF %26quot;Boutique%26quot;. These are located all over Paris, and there%26#39;s a list at the SNCF web site.

Closest to Hotel de Ville are probably 18 rue de Pont Neuf or 2 rue de Turenne.

PS I%26#39;ve heard/read that there%26#39;s an SNCF ticket booth somewhere in the Saint-Michel/Notre Dame RER station. Perhaps someone can verify.

Another option would be to purchase your tickets at the SNCF station when you arrive at CDG.

You can buy them in the morning. You will need to be in an RER station like Invalides or St. Michel and both are staffed and have the flyer advertising them in the window.

There are sncf boutiques if you want to buy it Saturday but I don%26#39;t see why you would have a problem getting it on Sunday.

One reason to purchase Forfait Loisirs on Saturday would be that the transportation ticket can be used to get to RER Line C.

Are you SURE those RER stations are staffed on Sundays? There have been so many reports that they are NOT.

I do not have specific experience with those two stations, but can tell you that the ones we go by frequently (Champs de Mars, Pont de l%26#39;Alma...) are definitely not staffed on Sundays, and often not during the day weekdays, especially at lunch time and after mid-afternoon.

Invalides and St. michel are my suggestions to buy the pass. I have regularly seen staffed booths even on public holidays. They have metro and RERs so maybe that is why there is always someone in the booth.

Can I buy these at CDG?

You could go to the SNCF ticket office at CDG.

See the map at Easycdg for the location of the station (it%26#39;s under Terminal 2).

Recommend printing the Transilien web page to hand to the clerk, so they will know exactly what you wish to purchase. You will receive a transit ticket (valid on buses, Metro, RER) and a ticket to the Chateau. The transit ticket is valid for transportation to/from Chateau Versailles the entire day you choose to go (so save it for that day). You just validate it every time you ride something - bus, metro, RER, etc. Be sure to hang onto your ticket, and don%26#39;t keep in anywhere the magnetic strip could be comprimised (such as near a pocketfull of change).

If I were landing on Saturday and planning to visit Versailles on Sunday, purchasing the Forfait Loisirs before leaving CDG would probably be the most convenient, rather than going to a train station in Paris, finding an SNCF boutique, or hoping you can find a staffed ticket window at one of the RER Line C stations, or trying to figure out how to purchase tickets at the automatic ticket machines. You%26#39;d have your transit ticket in hand to use to GET to RER C the day you plan to go.

Ok this is sounding complicated. American Air seems to land at terminal 2A. So I look for the SNCF booth/store in Terminal A. What am I asking for when I get there? Do I ask for the Forfait Loisers

NEvermind - in my haste I did not see the transilien link you graciously put in a previous post. Got it. Printed it. Thank you so much! (I am rushing to wrap up work and get everything I need for my trip printed out, i apologize)

Here%26#39;s the link for CDG Terminal 2 Map

You%26#39;ll need to go from Level 4 to Level 2. There are elevators and escalators. Just look for SNCF signs.

You%26#39;ll be fine...
