1st trip to Europe in Nov for 2 weeks, 1 country or 2?

we are planning our 1st trip to Europe the last 2 weeks in Nov. I know we cannot see everything no matter what we do. I am trying to decide between 2 weeks in France, maybe start in Paris end in Nice, or do France for about 1 week then fly or train to Italy and see Venice and Rome for 1 week. The only for sure thing is Paris for my wife, after that I am open.

We are a family with a 9 year old son. So we would go to a few museums but like to see as much as possible but on a comfortable schedule. We like the wine country but realize the weather may be a challenge in Nov. What is Nice or Monaco like in Nov?

We went to Washington DC last year for Spring Break and went from 7am until 9pm everyday and it was a fun but long week. I could not do that pace for 2 weeks and enjoy it.

Any suggestions or thoughts would be appreciated.

We were in a similar situation with our first trip to Europe a few years ago, our son was 9 then. We did 9 days in southern England, London, Normandy, Loire valley and Paris. It was an excellent trip, saw a hell of a lot but did it quickly.

Last summer we did 10 days in Paris (apartment), with a day out to Versailles and Chartes. Then flew to Nice spent 3 days there, then drove through Alps with a nice in Chambery, then 3 more in Beaune. That was much better, If you have specific questions, feel free to ask.

In closing, I would stick to France only, one week in Paris is excellent and one week somewhere else in the country?
