Bastille Day

We arrive Paris on July 13th for 4 days. Any advice on sightseeing, away from crowded Parades? Will museums be closed Sunday and Monday? We will be staying near Ave De Champs. Still possible to swtich our itinerary to arrive Paris on July 16th for 4 days.

We didn%26#39;t go to any museums last year on Bastille Day, but I did overhear a local telling some tourists that the museums were free and would probably also be emptier than usual.

If there are any museums you definitely want to go to it might be worth finding their website/contact details and dropping them a line to find out whether they are open on Bastille Day. It may be that some of the smaller ones close, but I%26#39;m not sure.

Like Kathleen, we also arrive in Paris on July 13th for 4 days. Unlike Kathleen I%26#39;m still searching for a suitable apartment (but that%26#39;s another story).

Does anyone else have anymore tips about Bastille Day in Paris? It%26#39;s also my wife%26#39;s birthday (hence the stop enroute to London) and she%26#39;s very keen to celebrate it in France. But I%26#39;ve been told all the French leave Paris and go elsewhere ...??

I think the museums are open and free, but this website will tell you nearer the time google and then click on english flag

I am looking forward to being part of this celebration and intend to watch the parade and the fireworks.. I feel it is such a privelege to be in Paris on their special day. To me this is one of the special %26quot;sights%26quot; that you can see only once a year.

Far easier to go along with it, in my opinion, than try to avoid it.
