Hi
We are arriving at CDG Airport Paris at 11AM on Firday, June 27. We need to go to our chateau/hotel in Nazelles Negron (near Amboise).
Do you suggest taking the train to Amboise or Tours and then renting a car? If so, is there a direct train line and where do I find schedule? Or do we just rent a car at the airport and drive to Amboise?
(We need a car rregardless b/c will stay 6 nights in Loire Valley and then plan to drop off car in Tours and take train to Paris to spend 3 days before flying home)
Thank you

If you are arriving at CDG after an all night, trans Atlantic flight, I strongly recommend against trying to drive to Amboise upon arrival. The distance is too great to be safely done.
There are trains from CDG to Tours or St. Pierre des Corps which is actually the Tours TGV station. Train schedules may be found here:

depart: Aeroport TGV Terminal 2
arrive: Tours
If you have not already reserved a car, you%26#39;ll save a great deal of money doing this now before you leave:

Hi
Thank you for the great advice. Right now we are arriving at CDG from NYC at 11AM. When I checked the train schedule, it lists trains leaving at 7:39, 8:57, 1:47, 4:38. It looks like we would have to get the 1:47pm train. I would think 2 hours and 47 minutes would be enough time to get luggage and change terminals.
Do you think if we changed our flight to arrive at 7:25 AM, would that be enough time to get luggage, change terminals and make the 8:57 train. That would only be about one and 1/2 hour.
I prefer not to have the 3 hour layover with the first option but not sure if the second option is too tight??

I believe the wisest option is to book train travel at the same time as the airline ticket. That way the rail leg is handled the same as would a flight continuation - with some assurance of continued passage if you arrive later than as originally scheduled.
Even when tickets are booked separately, you still have some assurances in the event of a late CDG arrival:
1. Most (not all) rail tickets are fully refundable up to one hour after your train departs. You must be at the originally scheduled departure station to apply for a refund or rebook.
2. TGV ticket holders can travel on the train following their originally scheduled departure. However, seating is not guaranteed.
In your case, I believe 2+47 is a good time between scheduled CDG arrival and TGV departure. Planes can be late and delays can be encounter passing through immigration and customs. This also gives you sufficient time to find the Terminal 2 TGV station. It may seem as too much idle time but it will pass quickly.
