We are so excited for discovering this restaurant in Paris and would like to share it with everyone. We stayed at the hotel just opposite that restaurant which was an absolutely hidden gem. The address is 8, Rue Thenard, 75005, Paris and the telephone number is 01 43 54 59 47.
We went there for two fixed priced lunch on two separate days. It is a very busy place and be prepared to wait or make a reservation ahead of time. You will discover that you are probably the only non-locals there and that says a lot about that place. For the first lunch, we had a great bean terrine with salad greens, the most flavorsome and succulent chicken and a glass wine. The chicken had to be a free ranch chicken. The second day, we had a curried soup, pork and a glass of wine. The pork was sensationally tender and moist. I had to try their dessert and it was a triple chocolate parfait. I was satisfied. I laid back in my seat and thought that was a really sensational lunch. I could hardly wait to return when I have a chance.

Thanks for the info...we have it on our list! It has been recommended on other posts, but not with such great details...makes me hungary! Do you recall what the price was for the fixed price lunch?

Our last night in Paris my wife and I ate our second of two dinners there.
An entree, plat et dessert was 26.50 euros. We opted for entrees and plats that were little extra, so with the full bottle of wine the entire meal was an even 100 euros.
I took a picture of the menu at the time but it is all in french, I only know what the items are because between the two of us whe had all but one entree and plat.
It is a very nice restaurant, and busy.

I love this restaurant! I didn%26#39;t make it there on my last trip, but usually either walk up for lunch or make a dinner reservation a day or two before I want to go. The food is excellent!

I discovered Le Pre Verre through a NY Times review in 2004. Here is the link (with a few other nice restaurants too):

Do you need to book in advance? Will they take bookings in English? Or should I use my very rusty schoolgirl french?

I concur that the food is first rate and a great value for the price. Reservations are needed, and be prepared to be cramped for space. We ate there a week ago tonight. The service was fast and confused. The place was noisy and crowded. It would be a pleasant spot if it were half full. The atmosphere detracted from the food, but I%26#39;d go there again.

You will definitely need reservations - it%26#39;s a popular bistro because of the great food at very reasonable prices. They have a website, but I can%26#39;t remember whether it has an e-mail address/reservation form.

Definitely reserve for dinner. You can call them, or just go in a day or 2 before you want to reserve. I%26#39;ve had good luck at lunch just walking in, although the last time we could only eat outside (which was fine, the weather had just turned really nice!). Also, lunch is usually a really good deal if you get the special.
