On my way to Paris, can anyone tell me if it worth to visit Troyes? I will be coming from Germany and Luxemburg. Thanks

Here is a link to the Tourist Office web-site to help you decide.

Troyes is lovely and worth a visit at any time, I reckon. It is a little bit out of your way if coming from Luxembourg, though. I suppose it depends on how much time you have and whether you%26#39;re travelling by train or car and how much you really want to see Troyes!
If you%26#39;re driving from Luxembourg and decide that Troyes is for you, I can recommend going via Verdun and Bar-le-Duc, both intriguing places. From St Dizier, you can take back roads and see some great half-timbered churches along the way (the one at Lentilles is superb).

Hi, thaks for the tips. Can you be more specific about Verdun and Bar-Le-Duc. Thanks
|||
Both Verdun and Bar-le-Duc (like all places in France) have a rich history. Verdun was shelled heavily in World War I and is very close to many sites associated with the war. First World War heritage might not be your thing, but there are loads of places (not all connected with the war!)worth seeing in the town and immediate area - visit verdun-tourisme.com/www-accueil-1022-UK-ACCU… to find out more.
Bar-le-Duc is a charming market town with an historic quarter mostly dating from Renaissance times. Not so much a %26quot;must see%26quot; by way of sights etc, but a very pleasant place in which to spend some time or have lunch if you are passing through. We spent two months staying in a village nearby and Bar-le-Duc was our local %26quot;big%26quot; town, so we enjoyed wandering about in it aimlessly. http://www.barleduc.fr/index.aspx?lang=gb has some info about it. It%26#39;s not high on the list of places to go for most people, but if you%26#39;re in the area it%26#39;s worth a look.
Hope this helps!

Yes, especially if you can be there for Bastille Day, 14 July. At the western end of the bouchon (the city centre is in the outline of a champagne cork) there will be a fireworks display followed by a dance in the Fire Station (same location) where the musicians are the firemen and the local wine (viz Champagne) flows at about €15 a bottle. Very atmospheric, very French and an excellent example of seeing the French celebrate Bastille day.

We stayed there in May and thought if was a wonderful city! Very medieval and the perfect size for wandering about. We much preferred the atmosphere of the city to Reims or Amiens.

Thank you so much. Yes, I agree with you..I do not know Troyes, but I did not enjoy Reims%26#39;s atmosphere. Maybe because it was summer, and terribly hot.
