Try the %26#39;logis-de-france.fr%26#39; web site - they have dozens of hotels within 1 hour drive of Calais.

Most of their hotels will have been reviewed by Tripadvisor members.

Other hotels near to Calais range from the basic Formule 1 at less than 40 euros, the Ibis at about 60-65 euros and you%26#39;ll find 4 star Hotels at around 150 euro.

Stayed at La ferme du Vert last year (www.fermeduvert.com), which was very good (a little cold in winter) with a pretty courtyard and excellent restaurant ... takes a bit of map-reading to find it. Your budget will allow you to choose one of their best/bigger rooms.

ibis, coquelles. although only about 10 mins drive and a two star. It is practically brand new and about half your budget. perfect for a one or two night stay. adjacent to two other hotels of the same accor group. not far from a huge carrefour and shopping centre. also allows dogs, for which luckily enough at the moment has a big empty field for them to enjoy.

Try the Auberge de la ForĂȘt at Hazebrouck. Excellent dinner served in a very smart dining room and bed, breakfast and dinner will probably be within your €150 budget.

Alternatively there is the Chateau de Cocove near St Omer (37 kms from Calais). Food and the dining room are spectacular.

Whilst I have not been there I have received a mail shot from the Hotel Clery at Hesdin L%26#39;Abbee (near Boulogne) with an offer for bed, breakfast and four course dinner for €110 per person. The website is www.hotelclery-hesdin-labbee.com and it appears to be a chateau in its own grounds.

What ever you choose, bon appetite.
