Train travel in France and Italy

Train travel is a bit confusing. We are traveling from Paris to Nice and then onto Florence. For our last night we fly out of Milan so we will also be taking the train from Florence to Milan. I have read from other sites the pros and cons about a rail pass. Would we be better off buying a rail pass for 4 days of travel instead of each ticket separately? Is it cheaper to buy it ahead of time or onsite? Also, there seems to be 3 sites that sell tickets. Eurorail.com, Eurail.com and Railpass.com. What is the difference and best one?

What about regional train travel? Are the passes good for those trains?

If anyone has good suggestions about the easiest way to get from Nice to Florence, I would appreciate the feedback.

Hi DSRJ the easiet way by rail would be 10:04 nice to milan arrives 14:50 then either the 15:10 to florence refridi arrives 18:26 or the 16:00 to florence SMN arrives 18:44 or you can save two hours by nice 07:37 to ventimiglia arrives 08:32 then the 08:58 to genoa arrives 11:06 early lunch then 12:52 to pisa arrives 15:00 and finally the 15:29 to florence SMN arrives 16:33 . eurorail passes are good for all regional train services however check the price of through tickets first as train travel in mainland europe is not that expensive try www.deutschebahn.de click the english language option top right hope this helped out have a great trip
