Chateau de Noizay

I am staying at the chateau with my mother for three days. It is 20 miles west of Tours and we have a car. Does anyone have a recommendation for what we should go and see? We are very interested in going to vineyards.

Please pop out to a bookstore or library and pick up a guidebook. There is so very much to see, that you%26#39;ll have to narrow it down for 3 days.

Choose what strikes your interest, then come back and ask us questions about the things you%26#39;d like to see.

From the Chateau de Noizay it is a few minutes drive to Amboise, with its Chateau and the Clos Lucie (home of Leonardo Da Vinci). Half an hour beyond that is Chenonceaux, with its marvellous chateau. Tours is also well worth a visit, perhaps with lunch in Place Plumereau.

At Noizay you are just on the edge of the Vouvray wine area. Vouvray is a white wine, made in sweet, medium and dry, still and sparkling versions.

Head down the hill towards Chancay, and you are in the Vouvray wine area. Chancay has a population of about 1000 people, including some 60 wine makers. Nearly all of them are small family businesses, and English is not spoken frequently.

If you drive from Chancay through Vernou to Vouvray you will pass signs to lots more vinyards.

Have a look at this other thread on Vouvray vineyards:

near Chancay is a great little cave. His name is Claude Paris. The sparkling white is fabulous! Did I mention cheap? We would pass the chateau on our way to our humble gite. Its quite a big place. Its well situated and you can get to Blois, as well as west and south easily. You can easily reach Tours as well.
