cheap hotel/apt in 5th or 6th arr?

We are in our mid twentites and heard that the 5th or 6th arr is the place to stay. We are on a very cheap budget, and this is our first trip to Paris.l Any suggestions for rooms?

What do you mean by %26quot;very cheap%26quot;? €100 a night? Less?

My favourite site for apartments in Paris – on the basis of selection and price (as well as a really user-friendly website – is parisaddress. It has an apartment in the 3rd at 35 rue de Gravilliers which looks really nice and is a bit under €100 a night based on a 7 night stay (they charge slightly more for shorter stays). Code: GRAV35

It’s in a good, central location on the border of the Marais (which really buzzes with a bohemian, village feel), 500m from the Centre Centre Pompidou, 1.5km from the Louvre and about the same to Notre Dame cathedral.

At the same price, the BEAU14 apartment at 14 rue de Beauce in the 3rd is another, reasonable looking option.

The CHAR92 apartment (92 rue de Charonne in the 11th) is a little further out from things, but is only about €84 a night for the week. Public transport links in Paris are excellent, however, so it’s really easy to get around.

In the Latin Quarter, I’m looking at the FEMO26 apartment at 26 rue du Fer a Moulin which rents for about €92 a night on a 7 night basis – as I’ll be travelling with my mother, who is very budget conscious.

There are cheaper options – but they tend to be on the 5th floor without a lift and/or don’t have washing machines (which is a “must have” for me when I’m renting an apartment) and/or only have a sofa bed.
