St Pierre Des Corps Europcar pick up after hours?!

Does anyone know how this works?? I am renting a car from Europcar at the St Pierre Des Corps station, but they are closed during my pickup time. I paid an extra fee to rent the car after business hours. How do I pick up the car if it is after hours?! Help!!

The quick answer is that you don%26#39;t.

You can try to pickup at a different office near St. Pierre des Corps (sometimes the airport has longer hours) but without knowing when you are arriving and the rental company you are using, it would be difficult to assist further.

Call europcar using their toll free number.

I meant Autoeurope.

But it said specifically when I made the reservation online on the europcar website that %26quot;Location closed at this time. An “after hours” charge has been added, to cover exceptional opening cost.%26quot;

When I tried to book at the Tours airport, Tours North, or Tours South - it did not give me that option. It simply said to try another time because the rental office was closed on my requested day.

(The problem is that I need to rent the car on quatorze juillet and most everything is closed.)

You will understand my problem if you go to the europcar website and do a search for a pick up at Tours (St Pierre Des Coprs) on July 14th and a drop off on July 17th.

I still have no idea how I am picking up the car if the office is closed. How does the after hours pick up work?

Is Autoeurope and Europcar the same company??

If you have paid an additional charge for an out of hours pickup, and you have the rental confirmation, then the car will be there for you.

You might want to e-mail Europcar to confirm how they will handle it. Usually someone will come in to man the Europcar office when your train arrives; but I do seem to have a vague recollection that Europcar also have an arrangement where they leave the key etc at the hotel next to the station.

Europcar is an actual car rental company, with offices all over France. In the States there are several %26quot;hire car agencies%26quot; who will accept your bookings, and then subcontract out the rental to an actual car rental company like Europcar. So in your case you should be assured that at least you are dealing direct with Europcar.

I have just had a look at the Europcar website, and it says that the additional fee that you have paid covers them opening the office for you. It goes on to say that you should create your Europcar Driver ID on the site, and then contact the agency for details of the pickup.

Thank you so much for your reply. There seems to be a Kyraid hotel right next to the station. Does that ring a bell?

Again - thank you for your help. This is my first trip to the Loire region and unfortunately I have to travel from Paris on July 14th! I guess I will have to wake up very early and start my journey early to avoid the crowds of the holiday.

This is a very important detail.

Just because you paid additional fees to have the office open does not guarantee that the local rental car manager will remember to staff the office for your 14 July arrival. I should think it very important that you call the day before to confirm your pickup time.

Thank you - I would have missed that. I found a toll free number and called Europcar. They told me that yes, someone will be at the rental office (even though it is after hours) and the gentleman that I spoke with also made a note of my train times from Paris to Saint Pierre Des Corps.

I will also call from Paris the day before just to check....
