On our first night in Paris, my wife and I are usually too jet-lagged to go for a full heavy dinner. Anybody have a good recommendation for a casual place to grab some good poule frite (roast chicken with fries) at a %26quot;reasonable%26quot; (relative term in Paris) price? We%26#39;re staying in the 6th, but will have a metro pass and will be happy to use it!

I could be wrong but I think you want %26#39;poulet roti et frites%26#39;.
I think most any brasserie/cafe will have that on the menu- you can probably stare at a couple of plates through the window to help you decide to go in or not. :)

Somebody on Chowhound likes the P/F at Brasserie Balzar, as does some blogger %26#39;Parisdugrandmere%26#39;...

I%26#39;ve seen it called poulet roti as you pointed out as well. You%26#39;re quite right that it%26#39;s in many cafes, but I%26#39;m looking for something a bit more reliable and maybe a bit nicer. Balzar is a good idea. Thanks.

Your opening post just sounded like you didn%26#39;t want to be %26#39;committed%26#39; to any certain place, and I%26#39;m thinking Balzar might be popular and busy...
so if you do see your dish on a carte and the diners look happy and the food looks good, you%26#39;ll probably be just fine with something right by your hotel. (but I understand it%26#39;s good to have a backup plan).
