Apartment near Louvre or Luxembourg Gardens?

I%26#39;m looking for an apartment to stay in with my husband and 2 young children. I would like to stay near the Louvre but near Luxembourg Gardens looks nice as well.

Anyone have any opinion on which area would be more ideal for sightseeing, restaurants/markets and safety? I would like a quiet area as well.

Both areas are good but grocery shopping is better near Luxbg garden. Again, depends on exact street. Those are large areas you are talking about.

near Luxembourg Gardens, have a look on www.vrbo.com/8471, the owner, a woman, live in Zurich-Switzerland

Near Luxembourg Gardens would be more of a %26quot;neighborhood%26quot; and %26quot;quiet%26quot; compared to near the Louvre.

With young children, you may want to make sure the location is convenient to bus routes, which I would strongly recommend versus using the Metro.

ragdoll, have a look at vacationinparis.com and specifically their 2-br Luxembourg Splendor. I rented it with a friend a couple of years ago and it would be perfect for your family. About a 3-min walk to the gates of Lux Gdn on r. Vavin. Good luck.

Thanks HappyGoin. I am seriously considering this apartment. Was it clean and just as nice as the photos on the website? I do like the location. Are there good restaurants/bakeries near the apartment? Is this a good location for a home base for sightseeing? I have a 5 yr old and 8 yr old and I%26#39;m sure they would love Luxemboug Gardens.

It was absolutely as pictured. It was in a secure building. It has one of those great old elevators with the cage door. It holds about one person and one piece of luggage at a time. Just what you%26#39;d expect to find in a charming old Parisian building. It was very near both bakeries and cafes. As added incentive, there is a Hevin chocolate store on the walk toward Lux Gdn :)

I can%26#39;t recommend it highly enough. Any other questions, ask.

Sorry, I forgot...yes, it is in a very good location for sightseeing. Near metro stations and an easy walk to lots of areas. Internet cafe around corner if you don%26#39;t have a laptop...

Thanks for the info HappyGoin. I was wondering how VIP was to deal with? Was there someone to meet you at the apartment to show you around? Was there a local contact in case of any problems? I%26#39;m just worried because I have seen some negative comments regarding lack of communication when problems arose with the apartments.

Ragdoll - Luxembourg Splendor is very nicely located. It%26#39;s not quite %26quot;central%26quot;, but not inconvenient either. Very convenient to two metro stations on different lines, and several bus routes, along with small and large supermarkets, and plenty of restaurants and cafes. The Raspail open air street market is only a ten minute walk (Tues, Fri, Sun-Organic).

Try a web search for a detailed map of Jardins du Luxembourg. Or, you%26#39;ll find details on many printed maps of Paris (Paris Mapguide) or in the various walking tour guides. For now, have a look at

In the section with %26quot;Lux..%26quot; is a very nice playground for the kids, with a marionnette theater nearby. According to my notes, shows are Wed, Sat, Sun at 2PM, but you%26#39;d need to double check.

I definitely recommend being near Le Jardin du Luxumbourg. It is a perfect place to go with your children. The marionnette theatre is so wonderful. The main puppet is named Guignol. These are little vignettes. The kids in the audience scream out like in American melodramas. Although it is in French, your kids will just love the experience. I am 59 years old and I go every opportunity I get--so adorable!

This park is absolutely gorgeous. You will enjoy it and your kids will enjoy it. It is a great place to %26quot;wind down.%26quot;
