Paris airport mobile phone rental// Roissy CDG

Does anyone know where to go at Charles de Gaulle airport to rent a cell phone? Thanks for your advice.

I don%26#39;t know the answer to that question.... we bought a Mobal phone for $49 (www.mobal.com) and just pay the per-minute rate on the credit card (not cheap, but we don%26#39;t talk long).

You can read all day on many cell options by typing %26quot;cell phone%26quot; into the forum search.

Best bet is to buy a used tri or quad-band phone on EBay.

Then, you can either shop online for a SIM card or purchase a local one when you arrive. The advantage of a local SIM is that incoming calls are free.

I cannot imagine that renting a phone and using it to make calls would be either practical or economical. And, if you search this forum, people have reported horror stories. Do you want to sign a contract that is in French and turn over your credit card?

If you have a cell phone at home, check with your provider. Even those that don%26#39;t offer phones with SIM capability, such as Verizon, probably offer a much better rental than any vendor at CDG.

Note that it is not inexpensive to use a cell phone in Europe. The most economical way, by far, to phone home is with a phone card.
