My favorite is Chez Jean, 8 rue Saint-Lazare. I think they%26#39;re open only for dinner. Beautiful, more modern, place with appealing menu and very reasonable prices. The owner/chef worked at Taillevent for many years.

Also nearby are Bistro des Deux Theatres, 18 rue Blanche, where there is a prix fixe menu (just over €30 when we were there) that includes an aperitif, three courses, and a bottle of wine, and Au Petit Riche, 25 rue le Peletier with beautiful Art Nouveau decor.

If you walk toward Gare Saint-Lazare, both sides of the street are lined with all sorts of places. Where FNAC is located, there%26#39;s a new indoor/outdoor %26quot;mall%26quot; with a lovely %26quot;food court%26quot; in the center with nice seating.

If you like seafood, head for Brasserie Mollard (inside Hotel Mollard) across from Gare Saint-Lazare. This place with worth a visit for a drink to see the gorgeous tile interior.

In the other direction, Au General La Fayette, 52 rue la Fayette, is terrific any time of the day or night. It%26#39;s one of those cafe/bar/bistro sort of places. Very casual with an extensive menu, reasonable prices, and lots of locals. Vintage decor and a nice sidewalk set with tables/chairs.

You%26#39;ll be only a few blocks from blvd Haussmann, the Grands Magasins, Place de l%26#39;Opera, etc. And, the hotel is very convenient to Montmartre by metro or bus, which is chock full of appealing bistros.

If you miss American coffee, there%26#39;s a Starbucks right across from Gare Saint Lazare.

I put your address into Google maps, searched on %26quot;restaurant%26quot; and recognized a few known places:

%26lt;%26gt; Chez Georgette - 29, Rue St Georges, 75009

%26quot;....Dear Pim...In the 9th district, you should enjoy %26quot;Chez Georgette%26quot;, a little bistro as you like, owned by delicious women cooking fresh vegetables from Joel Thiebault and serving the most amazing Fontainebleau I ever eat -better than mine, grrhhh !...%26quot;

%26quot;... Served with toast and the most delicate and tiny mushrooms... This is superb! If heaven was a dish this would be it... I%26#39;m about to pass out from all the great food and wine pairings...%26quot;

We had dinner at Aux Lyonnais and were not impressed. It was one of a very few disappointing dining experiences in Paris. We actually ordered the %26quot;Pot de la Cuisinière Lyonnaise (Charpie de Porcelet au Foie Gras)%26quot;, at the insistence of our waiter, and did not care for it at all. And, I ordered the Foie de Veau (which I%26#39;ve ordered all over Paris) and it was disappointing. This place was unlike any other I%26#39;ve ever experienced in Paris. Our waiter was pushy and full of pricey recommendations. To our amazement, when the dinner plates were cleared, he asked if we would mind having our coffee in the upstairs lounge so they could %26quot;turn the table%26quot;. Once upstairs, we were ignored for quite a while before finally being served drinks and coffee. And, it was hot and stuffy up there, with uncomfortable seating. And, loud. Huge tab for not very appealing food. Decor downstairs is magnificent, though.
