We are arriving by ferry in St Malo for a week%26#39;s stay.
Can anyone recommend a good hotel or B and B for the two of us?
Would you recommend staying in St Malo or are there any other places we could reach by car?

Depends on what sort of holiday you like.
But in any event, I would certainly not spend the whole week in St Malo. It is one of the pleasanter channel ports, but there%26#39;s lots to see in the area.
Dinan is worth at least a day.
Many would say that Mont St Michel is a must as well (don%26#39;t like the place myself - grossly over commercialised, but worth it for the views alone).
Dinard is the nearest beach resort and very pleasant, with seaside walks and cafes overlooking the beach.
Slightly further afield are St Cast le Guildo, Erquy and Le Val Andre, all worth a visit. Cap Frehel offers breezy walks and great views. In the other direction is Cancale, famous for oysters.
