Romantic break

Hi i am taking my partner to Paris for our 5 year anniversary. Unfortunatley the trip has had to be shortened to 2 full days instead of 4.

Any suggestions to make it the most Romantic.

Our anniversary is on the 23rd and we are staying at the europe hotel near the eiffel tower. It is a bit of a budget hol and all the trips on websites are coming out at over 100 quid each.

Help would be appreciated and things that i can book before we go would be great so we can relax when we get there.

Thanks

To make sure it is romantic, have candles and a bottle of favorite wine available (with cork screw) and 2 glasses.

Walk by the Seine after dark when Eiffel tower sparkles on the hour.

Buy a chocolate cake...

Unknown Paris can be very unromantic so better bring some ingredients.

Other than that you can go to museums (Cluny and Guimet are free till the end of June) Rodin is always perceived as romantic with lunch in garden.

Licking ice cream on ile saint Louis is also romantic to many.

Yves Saint Laurent who just died said %26quot;to look beautiful a woman needs a black sweater, a black skirt and a man who loves her holding her arm%26quot;. It is the same re. Paris. Just bring the right person!

Thank you i am now even more excited and am looking forward to nt doing the norm.

La photographe has it right. Who cares about the hotel, Paris is known for its less than stellar accomodations based on size and ammenities. Splurge on the things Paris does well. Wine, champagne, cakes, private corners of cafes, inexpensive flowers. Don%26#39;t forget the flowers!

Dear Kez81.

As you are only there for two short days I would avoid rushing around trying to see at the %26quot;sights%26quot; otherwise your memories will be of rush rush rush and you will be too tired for %26quot;romance%26quot;!!!!

On our first and most romantic visit to Paris, my husband and I just wandered the right bank where we stayed, sitting in cafes and watching the world go bye, talking and communicating wih each other.

We booked the hop on hop off bus so we DID see some of the sights. AND you are doing it sitting down (arms around each other) in a relaxed way. If yo want to get off to see something you can and then you just get back on the bus when you have finished. This link gives you some info.

this is well worth booking and you just buy tickets on the bus when you get there.

From the Eiffel tower where you stay you can wander east towards Rue Cler, rue st Dominique and Les Invalides, Rodin Garden, Riverbank, musee Dorsay and then on towards St germain area.

It%26#39;s very romantic to buy some wine (don%26#39;t forget a corkscrew) bread and cheese or ham and sit in a little square or parc along the way for a picnic and of course the cakes are wonderful!

You will find lots of little bistros and cafes along the way, our experience is that if we eat early (for Paris) around seven we have never needed to book.

As someone else said it%26#39;s the person you are with thats the important thing!

Enjoy

I%26#39;d say probably the most romantic thing you could do is not plan too much!

Although I like to plan practically everything I do, when I travel I try not to have too much pre-arranged as it%26#39;s much more fun (and romantic!) to be spontaneous and do things on the spur of the moment.

I have been to Paris several times and the last time I was there (2 weeks ago), my boyfriend of only a few months got carried away with the spontaneous nature of the whole weekend and proposed unexpectedly, so that was fairly romantic!

We took the last boat trip (10:30pm) down the Seine after a perfect meal, and he said the whole thing was so impressive, tranquil and romantic that he just couldn%26#39;t help it, despite having already decided that he would ask me properly, with a ring, in a few months time.

Aside from that, we also just spent lots of times wandering around the city but made sure we made time to stop every day to just sit in a park and enjoy the weather / surroundings.

Hope you have fun and take home lots of lovely memories too!

PS I said yes!

Thank you all for the advice. It%26#39;s been really helpful and i now know i don%26#39;t need to panic about the situation and take it as it comes.
