From Gare du Nord to the Westin

We are planning to travel to Paris from London by Eurostar this summer. Could somebody tell me how long is the taxi ride from Gare du Nord to the Westin? And approx. how much is the cab fare? Is metro not recommended?

Thank you.

The nearest Metro stop is at Tuileries, but to get there from Gare du Nord you would have to change at Chatelet which I wouldnt recomend with luggage.

The Taxi will probally take 10-15 minutes. I have taken may taxis in Paris so can%26#39;t comment on the cost, sorry

Thanks Peej. Based on your advice, I think we%26#39;ll stick with taxis. We%26#39;re arriving quite late, I wonder if the area is safe.

The area by the Westin safe???? About as safe as it gets. This is a very good area.

We went by taxi from Gare du Nord in about 10 minutes. Cost was 20 euros but we%26#39;d reserved a taxi and the fee was higher. Maybe only 12-12 euros if you wait in line? Worth taking a taxi. You can walk all over Paris and take BatoBus to see many sights from your hotel. Need to take metro to Monmartre.
