Hotel Verneuil vs. Hotel Henri IV Rive Gauche

I will be in Paris in July 2008 and I cannot decide on a moderately priced hotel ($200-$275/night) with air conditioning, a clean and private bath/toilet around Saint Germain/Latin Quarter area. Does anyone recommend either of the above-mentioned hotels or any other good, comfortable hotels in the areas mentioned?

Henri IV would be my favorite for location but why are rates so high in low season ?

Isn%26#39;t July supposed to be high season?

Henri IV does not have any double rooms available from July 8-July 15th.

Could anyone recommend another decent and clean hotel, with a private bath %26amp; toilet?

Thanks!

I hate to write about the Verneuil for very selfish reasons, but as a born and bred New Yorker I couldn%26#39;t help but respond to a compatriot (though I grew up a Mets fan). It%26#39;s a great hotel in a great location. Be prepared for very small rooms, and make sure to request an air-conditioned room (most are, but some are not). If you%26#39;re looking for the Ritz, this ain%26#39;t it. But it%26#39;s full of charm (and no, that%26#39;s not a euphemism), extremely clean, comfortable beds, good water pressure, and on a quiet street. It%26#39;s in the St. Germain area, which I prefer to the Latin Quarter (and you will, too unless you%26#39;re under 25 or so). I don%26#39;t know the other other place but you can%26#39;t go wrong with the Verneuil.
