planning a trip from argeles to barcelona this july and was wondering if there was a train from argeles to barcelona as would prefer this to driving myself

There%26#39;s ot a direct train but I did that journey myself last Saturday.
Will your trip be just for the day?
If you have a car in Argeles, I suggest you drive to Perpignan and get the train there. It leaves at 0856 and arrives in Barcelona Sants station at 1146.
The train back to Perpignan leaves Barcelona Sants at 1642 and gets into Perpignan at 1933.
Probably just about enough time for a day to snoop around the city.
I was able to get a train from Argeles to PortBou in Spain at 0849 and pick up the Barcelona train there - Portbou is the Spanish side of the border. Coming back if you change trains at CERBERE (not Port Bou) you will find there is no connecting train to Argeles without a hour%26#39;s wait.
It cost me €29.50; obviously a bit more from Perpignan.
Take your passport - Schengen agreement indeed! My passport was inspected by the French border police on leaving France at Cerbere; by the Spanish frontier police when I got off at Port Bou and after I got on the Barcelona train by the same Spanish police again - which caused a 10 minute delay.
The train was full so book early to make sure of getting a seat.
Hope that helps.
